Crawley Town!

Postby steveizy » Sun Oct 03, 2010 8:08 pm

Not quite Barclays Premier League yet but CTFC are top of the Blue Square Premier League by 3 points after 13 games. Promotion at the end of the season would earn them a place in the football league.

They have a tough match away at Luton on Tues. but whatever the result the 3 point buffer will help.

I say - let's all get behind them

"GO ON CRAWLEY"!

Crawley have slipped down to second after defeat at home by Newport County recently.

However, revenge is sweet and Crawley got it when they turned the tables and knocked Newport out in the FA cup, at Newport!

HA HA :D

... Come on Crawley

Crawley still going great. An away victory at 8th placed Mansfield, with Crawley winning 1-4 has put them one point clear of Wimbledon who had a poor result at mid-placed Darlington, losing 0-2.

Not even half way through the season so too early to celebrate, but if Crawley continue on their present form, we could be seeing League Football at the "Broadfield" next season :)

Crawley demolished league-below Guiseley in the FA Cup on Saturday. Guiseley 0 - Crawley Town 5

That result earns them a home match against League-one giants Swindon Town :o

No date has been set yet - so watch this space.

Crawley and Swindon have met previously in a pre-season friendly, in July 2005 at Broadfield. Crawley lost 3-4. But in 2005, I remember Crawley had all sorts of problems. I think that with their present form and management they could pull this off. It's certainly going to be a sell-out and hopefully a great game.

In the Blue Square League nothing has changed at the top. Crawley still have a fragile one point lead over Wimblebon. The Reds are away this Saturday to mid-placed Darlington, whilst the Dons, on paper at least, have an easier task away to lowly Barrow.

Crawley play Swindon in the FA Cup this Friday at Broadfield. A ticket sell-out seems likely!

They go into this "David vs Goliath" match bolstered with confidence after their total annihilation of league-bottom Altrincham on Saturday. Crawley 7 Altrincham 0

That result put them rightly back at the top of the table, for a day. On Sunday arch-rivals Wimbledon beat Kettering and go one point clear for now. Crawley have a game in hand though.

http://www.bluesqfootball.com/story/0,2 ... 25,00.html tells the story.

Crawley came back from behind and got a draw. Crawley 1 - Swindon 1 in the FA Cup.

So a replay away at Swindon is the reward. This takes place on Tues. 7 Dec. The winner will play big club Derby County at home.

I still think Crawley can pull this off! Crawley could get promoted and Swindon could be relegated at the end of the season. This would leave them playing in the same league next year! The 1-1 result backs this up. An away giant-killing result could happen!

Meanwhile in the League, Crawley are second with a game in hand and only one point adrift.

Crawley play away this Tues at Bath whilst Wimbledon have to face Luton. One or either of Crawley's main opponents will lose out on points here :P

A Crawley win at Bath would be the icing on the cake!
